I created “Wisdom, Knowledge & Truth”, to celebrate the beauty and uniqueness of my own three daughters Jazzie, Mia and Joi. Wikipedia states that Wisdom is the ability to think and act using knowledge, experience, understanding, common sense, and insight. My generation called it “Mother Wit”, a knowing and the sense to move one’s self in the direction of that knowing. Some people obtain wisdom after many years of living, while others never obtain it at all. Then there are those few rare people that obtain wisdom far beyond their years, almost as if they’ve been here before, that is my daughter Jazzie! That is who I turn to for advice and she hasn’t steered me wrong yet. Mia’s high school counselor once told me that Mia had been her selection for school valedictorian. In the end another very intelligent young lady won out but the amount of knowledge that Mia had pushed herself to acquire was undeniable. She went on to receive a full academic scholarship to Norfolk State University. Mia possesses an amazing ability to comprehend the written word almost as though the author is speaking directly to her. She is a treasure chest of knowledge in a variety of different subjects. Sincerity in action, character, and utterance is one of Webster’s definitions of “Truth”. Don’t be surprised if you see a photo of Joi right alongside it. When the truth is in you it is inescapable. It comes through the way you walk, talk and in every way you deal with every person and situation in your life. It beams through like a lighthouse on a dark and stormy night. You don’t have to practice it or work on it, it is who you are. At times I am afraid for her in a world that sometimes seems to be so full of lies and dishonesty. But then I remember and have faith that in the end “The Truth” always wins out.
